By  |

If you’re like most race-goers, the dress, fascinator, hair and make-up has all been well and truly locked in a good month before the event. I’m here to add in a last little bit that you may not have considered- A picnic plan.

Thanks to Pinterest, picnics are no longer just a drab and boring. They can be turned into a colourful, fun and inviting area to sip (or skull) wine, graze on food platters and relax with friends.

It’s time to create the insta worthy post! And to do that, you should choose a theme:

Country Chic

It’s hard to lug in tables and chairs so instead opt for cushions and throws.

Pretty Pinks

Choose 2-3 colours and work with the tones to create a warm and cosy feeling.

Colour crush

If you’re going down the bright colour path, own it and go OTT.

Picnic Baskets

Half the fun of planning a picnic is choosing a perfect picnic basket that also plays in with your theme.

Pastel floral basket

My inner 50 year old lady loves this basket and floral cushion set. This is perfect for the country races.

Wooden floral basket

Take on a Country style vibe and opt for a chocolate timber with leather details and floral prints.

Food

Picking the right food is crucial to for a good day at the races. Take your food inspo off some of these creative DIY’s.

Goodie bag

Not only are these goodie bags a little treat they also help eliminate mess as all the scraps can go back in the bag.

Lunch packs

If you fancy having a picnic party, these little lunch boxes can easily be stacked on each other.

Veggie cup

The races doesn’t have to be “cheat day”. Pack your fave greens into one serve with this easy idea.

Now the fun bit- laying out the spread to create that elusive shot where everything works harmoniously together. These are some of my fave shots.
