Skincare routines for all ages
Whether you’re in your 20s, 30s or 40+, Skincare Ambassador at The Global Beauty Group, Marina Juhas-Cucilovic shares her tips for beautiful skin at any age.
When we are young and full of ample supplies of naturally-occurring collagen and hyaluronic acid to keep our skin fresh, supple and firm and our skin cells are regenerating at a rapid rate, many can get away with not doing terribly much and still have great skin. However, the glory days of fuss-free complexions begin to peter out slowly as early as our 20s and this is when a solid skincare regimen will help preserve the youthful qualities of our skin into the future.
Beauty must-haves for 20s & 30s
A quality exfoliant – By now, a good exfoliant should be included in any skincare routine to help kick along the process of skin cell renewal while also removing dead skin cell build-up to keep skin looking fresh, polished and smooth. Exfoliating regularly with an exfoliant that is gentle enough to use daily will greatly help keep congestion, acne, blackheads and signs of premature ageing at bay.
A preventative moisturiser – During your 20s and 30s, it’s also time to look at professional skin care products that have strategic ingredients to prevent the signs of ageing coming on sooner than you are ready for. My top recommended moisturiser ingredient is vitamin C, which works as a natural antioxidant and protector against free radicals that wreak havoc on our skin, while also encouraging collagen production and assisting the skin’s repair after sun exposure. In addition, vitamin C works as a skin brightening agent to combat hyperpigmentation and helps keep our skin plump, firm and wrinkle-free when used regularly.
A 30+ SPF sunblock – The hot Australian sun is great for a day at the beach but believe me when I say it shows no mercy for the damage and accelerated ageing it can cause for our skin. UV rays weaken our collagen and skin cell structures causing wrinkles and loss of elasticity and they can be just as strong on overcast days and even penetrate through car windows. So even if you feel you don’t spend a lot of time in the sun – slip, slop, slap regardless if you truly want to slow down your skin’s ageing process.
Beauty must-haves for 40+
Strategic anti-ageing skincare – As we age, our skin cell turnover begins to slow down dramatically and it needs a little helping hand to upkeep what it could naturally once do on its own. Once we hit our 40s this is especially the case which is why you need to look for skincare containing peptides, stem cells, ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and retinol.
I love bt-Cocktail™ by Bio-Therapeutic:
Retinol will kick-start sluggish skin cell turnover while boosting the production of naturally-occurring collagen and elastin in our skin to maintain firmness and plumpness. ATP on the other hand is the power source for many of our cellular functions and helps to increase oxygen metabolism and skin cell regeneration to maintain optimum health and radiance in our skin well into the golden years!
Marina recommends bt-Ceuticals™ technology-accelerated skincare to combat the signs of ageing. Call 1300 006 607 to find out more.
