Smoothie time: winter goodness
After reading Kendall’s post on boosting nutrition, I took another trip to my fruiterer, Joe’s. I enjoyed his recipes last time and this week he had some seasonal ideas for me. With autumn finishing up and winter just beginning, it’s this time of year where I usually get a bit run down and sniffly. Joe has promised me that these are full of vitamins, so I’ve loaded up on these ingredients and I’ve dragged my blender out of that awkward spot in my kitchen cupboard.
Beetroot Boost
Peel and chop:
1 beetroot
1 medium carrot
1 medium apple
1 celery stalk
Add 1 teaspoon on turmeric and
1 teaspoon ginger, both peeled and grated.
Finish with water
Date night
10 pitted dates
1 Apple, peeled and chopped
1 cup blueberries
A handful of walnuts
Finish with almond milk or a milk of your choice
Papaya punch
Peel and chop:
1/2 papaya (seeded)
1 medium Apple
1 banana
A handful of nuts or sunflower seeds
Finish with coconut water
I feel healthier already đ
