Winter make-up trends

By  |

The current Autumn/Winter fashion runways were full of makeup inspiration. Some looks were a little too crazy to be worn in the ‘real’ world, but in the mix there were some very wearable trends which are easily achieved and look amazing.

Metallic eyeshadow

Metallic eyeshadow is HUGE this winter. The statement colours this season are bronze/copper and purple tones.

For eyes that make an impact wear as a solid colour over the whole lid and lower lash line.

For a more subtle look incorporate into your usual smoky eye, focusing mostly on the inner corners and blending outward into darker blacks and browns.

The best thing about these eyeshadows is they can be used dry for a soft subtle look or wet (using a damp brush) for a really intense vibrant metallic eyeshadow.

Flushed cheeks

It has been all about contouring and strobing lately but blush is making a comeback. This season make way for pretty flushed cheeks.

Blend blush starting from the apples of the cheeks and upwards along the cheekbone, this lifts cheeks and gives a fresh ‘healthy’ flush to brighten up pale winter skin. Remember start soft and BLEND. You don’t want go all 80’s on us.

Vamp lips

Every winter for the past few years we’ve seen shades of deep reds and dark purples on runways and famous faces, this winter they are back but with a difference…

Instead of lips being lined and perfectly filled in, this season we are going for a more messy shaded look. Lips are still precisely lined but with more of an ‘I’ve just eaten dinner and can’t be bothered reapplying my lippy’ look. To be honest it’s way less maintenance and easier to apply.

Our top tip: Apply your lippy, no need to be precise just make sure you stay in the lip line, then lightly blot with a tissue.

Next line lips with lip liner and lightly press lips together to blend, this gives you that darker outer and shaded inner look.
