Fashion staples to take you from beach to bar

I love this time of year: summer is in full swing, there are plenty of festivities on and some are lucky enough to have some much needed time off work. Who doesn’t want to spend days by the beach with girlfriends and sipping cocktails by night?

During this beachy season, I like to purchase a few summer essentials that are stylish and keep me looking fresh over the holiday period. But it’s important that these go-to items work overtime. Whether it’s for that 35 degree day or a balmy night out, our clothes needs to suit the occasion and the heat.

A maxi or loose fitted dress

This white number from Little Lace can take you from beach to bar in no time. It has a gorgeous sweetheart neckline with frill overlay. It’s the perfect summer dress and a staple piece that you will have in your wardrobe for seasons to come. Throw on a wedge when you need to dress it up. Perfect.

Gladiator inspired studded sandals go a long way in summer. I’m loving these beauties from Wittner. The neutral colour will go with anything in your wardrobe and will create some added edge to your outfit.

The Bikini

This beautiful and simple Seafolly bikini is classic and timeless. If you have a lot of colours and prints, it’s nice to break away from them from time to time. And having a plain set allows you to mix and match too.

A wide brimmed hat

As I get older, my hat collection has grown. In my book, they’re crucial when I hit the beach or pool. I love this Seafolly wide brimmed black hat. It’s such a classic style and will look great with any colour bikini. It’s a nice change from the straw hats that you usually come across.

This Torrance classic fedora is a bit dressier, especially when heading out with your girlfriends. It can also come in handy if you’ve got beach hair (we all know there’s good beach hair and bad beach hair) and feel like covering it up but still want to have that dressed up feel.

Nothing beats a killer pair of sunnies. My tip on buying a pair? Don’t always stick to what’s in fashion as it might not suit your face. Play around and try on as many as you can and see what fits best. These Tom Fords are more of a simple style and they also come in a tortoiseshell.
