Holiday make-up essentials
I recently went on a holiday and had the task of going through my make- up case and deciding which products were a necessity and which products could be left behind.
I’ll be honest, it took me forever but after careful consideration, this is what I took with me:
Mascara
Mascara is my number one go-to make-up item. You can go from looking half asleep to bright eyed with just the sweep of a mascara wand.
I always like to opt for a mascara with a curved brush, it helps to really grab onto, lift and coat your lashes from root to tip.
My faves:
$ Maxfactor 2000 Calorie $20.95
$$$ Dior Shocase $55
Maxfactor 2000 calorie mascara
Primer
Primer is important, not only as an aid for a smooth foundation and concealer application but it also hydrates your skin. Hydration is the key to keeping skin looking fresh and youthful.
Tip: Add a little to your make -up remover wipes and it can be used as a gentle make-up remover.
My faves:
$ Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer $14.95
$$$ Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer $59
Concealer
Concealer is important to have in your make-up bag as it covers all those unwanted skin blemishes.
It’s also super handy the day after one beverage may turn into a few unexpected beverages and you have to cover up those dark circles under the eyes. 😉
My faves:
$ Australis 4-in-1 Conceal And Correct $13.95
$$$ Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit $52
Tinted Moisturiser
Now that the weather is getting colder and the summer tans are fading, a tinted moisturiser is in order.
If, like me, you get pretty pale in the colder months, a little colour can help brighten and liven up your complexion.
Tinted moisturiser is great for a subtle colour and coverage and helps skin stay hydrated.
If you prefer a fuller coverage opt for a foundation instead.
My faves:
$ Natio Tinted Moisturiser $18.95
$$$ Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser $70
Powder Foundation
Powder foundation made my top six because it is a great product which can be used on its own to add a sheer flush of colour to your complexion or to set your liquid foundation.
Tip: If you find the powder foundation you have been using over summer is too dark for winter, don’t hide it in a drawer till next summer, use it as a contour for defined cheek bones or an eye-shadow for a subtle brown smokey eye.
My faves:
$ Australis Pressed Powder $ 12.95
$$$ Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition $59
Eyebrows
Unless you are blessed with thick, defined and filled in brows, a good eyebrow gel, powder or pencil is a definite must-have.
It not only helps to frame and shape your face, it also helps to enhance the natural colour of your eyes.
My faves:
$ Natio Brow Kit $19.95
$$$ Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil $51
And they’re my holiday essentials! What are yours?
