Spring Carnival make-up: Race Day looks

By  |

The Spring Racing season is almost upon us! It’s one of the most exciting time of years for us gals and let’s face it, how often do you get to spend the day in the sun with your friends sipping on champagne whilst wearing fancy head wear?

Ok, so your dress is sorted and your headpiece is on the way. What about your make-up?

I’ve put together three of my favourite race day looks: modern and fresh, flirty and feminine and classic and sophisticated.

MODERN

Glowing skin like the ever so gorgeous Gigi Hadid is what every modern-day girl is after and its the perfect look for the races.

Opt for a foundation that is lightweight and luminous like BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation $72.

It comes in eight shades and is buildable for a light to medium coverage; perfect for the day time.

FEMININE

Add a touch of peach to your eyes for a fresh feminine look this Spring Racing Carnival. Perfect for Derby day, this look will add a touch of colour to your classic black or white outfit. Not only does peach work with most skin tones it makes green and blue really eyes pop. Wear with a little black eyeliner and lot of mascara for a more intense look.

CLASSIC

You can’t go past a classic winged eyeliner for a sophisticated makeup look. It’s glamorous and polished, the perfect finishing touch to any race day outfit.
Team with a bold lipstick for a more striking look.

Tip: Want to brighten up your look but don’t want to wear a bold lipstick? Opt for a coloured eyeliner instead. It’s classic with a modern day twist.

Stilla All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner $31 is the liner for the job. The fine felt tip glides over your lids without pulling, smudging or running and it comes in 15 different colours.

And ladies don’t forget to sunscreen! There is nothing glamorous about sunburn.

My advice, opt for an SPF primer rather than an SPF foundation. As it is going directly onto your skin under your foundation base, it will minimise shine if you get a little sweaty.

NARS Light Optimising Primer $49 will do the trick.
