What big eyes you have: Eyeshadow for your eye colour

By  |

When it comes to eyeshadow, choosing the right shade to complement and accentuate your natural eye colour is not as hard as it may seem.

Think back to high school, one of the first things you learnt in art class was colour theory.

On the colour wheel, the most complementary tone or colour is directly across from the targeted colour.

e.g. Blue = orange tones, Green = red tones etc.

These are the colours that are most complementary to your eye colour, they really help to brighten and enhance the natural tones in your eyes.

Blue Eyes

If you want to make blue eyes look extra bright choose colours with an orange under tone like salmon, apricot, warm browns, champagnes, golds and copper.

They will make your eyes sparkle but wont distract.

Green eyes are naturally bright, so make them really pop with shades and tints of red. Think pinks, maroon, burgundy and shiraz.

If your eyes are more on the yellowy green side go more towards the purples. Shades like plum, lilac or violet really accentuate and brighten eyes.

If you really want to bring out the green in your hazel peepers choose colours with more of a brown tone, like chocolate, maroon and golden browns are perfect.

To bring out the brown, do the opposite and go for green. Colours like olive, moss and bottle green which are more on the yellowy-green side work better than bluey-green.

Brown Eyes

When it comes to brown eyes almost anything goes!

If you have deep brown eyes, the colours purple, gold, brown, navy and metallic green work best.

Medium to light brown eyes work well with metallic pinks and purples, champagnes and golds. These colours help to brighten eyes and bring out the natural lighter flecks.
