Top 5: Pieces to get you through this winter.

By  |

We all need those go-to pieces, especially in winter. We need them to help us in those I-can’t-even-think-about-what-I-should-wear-right-now moments. Here are my top 5 for this winter:

Funnel neck knit

One stand-out style this season is the funnel neck. It’s a little different to the usual turtle neck we see year in, year out. A funnel neck gives you a more relaxed yet stylish feel to your outfit. This one from ASOS is perfect for that cosy, relaxed look.

The cold shoulder

This look has been in for the last couple of seasons but this winter it’s here to stay. This year it’s a more relaxed style and what really works are the lightweight knits. If you’re not 100% sold on this look, go for a basic style and colour, like this one from Urban Outfitters.

A structured coat

Coat, jacket, trench, cape, poncho..the list goes on. This winter though, it’s all about the structured coat. Manning Cartell has designed this amazing piece that looks effortless and still so stylish. Not to mention, it’s made here in Australia! Think back to when all you had was that black coat and it just didn’t work with that navy dress. This coat is your answer.  A little too pricey? Here’s another beautiful piece from The Fifth Label that will round off any winter outfit.

Over-the-knee boots

This year there are so many variations of the over-the-knee boots. They are a great option for when you want to wear that dress to the bar but don’t want to bear the cold (or show off your winter legs) Sol Sana have nailed it with these black, block heel pair. Over-the-knee boots not for you? A Western style boot is the way to go. Check out this style from Wittner.

Khaki

Khaki is the new black for this winter. You can go head to toe like this effortless look from Cameo Collective. Or a simple knit or pants are a great way to incorporate it into your wardrobe without committing to the whole look. My favourite is this Viktoria + Woods wrap top.

This is what I’m wearing this winter. What other winter essentials do we need?
