Make-up trends for your big day

By  |

It’s getting close to that time of year again… nope, not summer (Phew! Because I am now where near bikini ready ) Wedding season!

Inspired by Natalie’s post on Bridesmaid trends, I thought I’d share some of my favourite makeup styles to help you to decide for your big day:

Natural

This look is for the ladies who want a minimal fresh- faced finish. Just a little shimmer on the eyes, thin eyeliner, blushed cheeks and soft pink lips.

It’s feminine and very pretty. If you want your eyes to pop and some natural looking false lashes.

Tip: for a more modern take on this pretty look add a little white luminous shimmer on the inner corners of the eyes and liner just on the outer half of the top lashes. It will give you a brighter do eyed look.

BOHO

If you are a Boho babe, go for a soft natural glow in bronzes, golds and dusty rose.

Avoid heavy black eyeliner and opt for more of a blended brown liner to frame the eyes and make them stand out.

Keep contouring to a minimum, add a little blush and luminizer for that gorgeous glow.

Tip: Want to add a little colour? Try a subtle green to go with your gold tones, it will make your eyes stand out and teams well with more of an over all bronzed look.

BOLD

If your go to look is a dark smokey eye and a bold lip don’t be afraid to wear this combo on your big day. After all, you still want to look like you!

If this is not your normal look its probably best not to experiment on your wedding day.

Tip: For more toned down look opt for a brown smokey eye with your bold red lip.

VINTAGE

A classic Hollywood look is perfect for those vintage loving ladies out there. A gorgeous red lip and flicked black liner is all you need.

Don’t forget to go for a matt based lippy, you don’t want your hubby to have stained red lips in the wedding photos!

Tip: Don’t want to wear red on your wedding day? Keep the vintage look with a strong winged eyeliner and a soft peachy lipstick or gloss.

It’s vintage with a modern twist.

Bridesmaids

Don’t forget about your bridesmaids! I always recommend going for a more toned down version of what the bride is wearing, after all its your big day so you want to be outshone by your bridesmaids.

Something with a little shimmer on the eyes, light blush on the cheeks and soft pink lip is always a pretty and classic look.
